A record 194 players from 34 countries are competing in the 15th Dubai Open Chess Championship from 6 to 16th April 2013 at the Dubai Chess Club in the UAE.
The Dubai Open is one of the strongest tournaments in the world with 38 GMs, 6 WGMs, 26 IMs, 6 WIMs, 13 FMs and 5 WFMs competing. At stake is the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cuip and a total of $50,000 in cash prizes. The tournament is a 9-round Swiss with games scheduled 5:30 daily. Two games are scheduled on Saturday to allow for a blitz tournament on Friday with $4,000 at stake in cash prizes.
